LOTE- Italian

Learning an additional language enhances student’s literacy skills and their communication proficiency. It strengthens student’s understanding of the nature of language, culture, and the processes of communication.

The Italian program at Bell Primary School strives to immerse students in Italian language and culture. We adopt a communicative based approach in our language teaching and use authentic experiences to incorporate language practice, making classes engaging and meaningful to students.

Students participate in weekly classes where they are able to explore the language through a variety of activities that focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Students are encouraged to use Italian as much as possible during classroom interactions with their teacher and peers. Italian celebration days are held regularly to involve students in a range of cultural activities including those related to food, art, music and dance. The Bell Primary School Italian Poetry Recital encourages students to develop their oral skills while gaining performance experience.
