Digital Technologies

At Bell PS we aim to develop lifelong learners who are innovative and confident users of Digital Technologies in an ever-changing digital world. Through up to date learning technologies, our students and staff will have any time, anywhere access to the most current knowledge and information.

Our school will integrate the use of digital technologies to promote greater student engagement and the development of more autonomous learners. Our school will continue to build advanced teacher practice and develop our student and staff capabilities in digital technologies. We will create learning opportunities for our students and staff to share and collaboratively construct knowledge within our school as well as local and global communities.

We will also use digital technologies to differentiate student learning across all curriculum domains. At Bell PS, student learning will be extended through authentic Digital Technology contexts that require inquiry, collaboration, creativity, communication and problem-solving. We use digital technologies to communicate and provide timely feedback to all of our students, staff and our school community.

We will promote the responsible and ethical use of digital technologies and support our students, staff and school community to understand the behaviours and processes that will help them to act in a safe manner when using digital technologies.

Online Safety

Bell PS has a strong focus on online safety for all students across the school. We have embedded many policies and activities from Foundation to Year 6 to ensure the school manages cyber safety, in conjunction with the Department of Education expectations.

Bring Your Own Device Program (BYOD)

Bell Primary School has been building its capacity to provide a 21st Century learning environment. The focus of the BYOD program at Bell PS is to provide tools and resources to the 21st Century Learner. Excellence in education requires that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. Increasing access to technology is essential for the future, and one of the learning tools of these 21st Century students is the Chromebook. The individual use of Chromebooks is a way to empower students to maximise their full potential and to prepare them for further studies and future education leading to the workplace. Students in Grade 4 - 6 will have the opportunity to bring their own Chromebook to school.

Students and staff at Bell PS have access to digital displays (interactive whiteboards and LED TVs), iPads and Chromebooks, a strong internet network, G-suite for Education and a range of digital technology resources and robotics, including a 3D Printer, green screen and filming resources, and several robotics including bee-bots, makey-makeys, micro:bit and cue robots.
