STEAM

STEAM education at Bell provides students with dedicated time each week to study the subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) in a way that complements and extends the classroom programme.

Each term is structured around either Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or Earth and Space Sciences, with Aboriginal perspectives and sustainability at the forefront of student learning. The scientific method of asking questions, developing hypotheses and testing them through hands-on experiments in order to observe results is key to engaging students and ensuring they are able to not only build their knowledge and understanding but also make connections between their own lives and the world around them.

The STEAM programme blends a mixture of explicit teaching to explain core skills and ideas with a structured-inquiry approach that ensures students are empowered to develop their own capabilities as learners, in line with the school’s learning assets of research, communication, collaboration, self-management and thinking.
